I love it when I’m reading my bible and I come across a verse that speaks so perfectly into a situation that I’m going through.
That happened to me last year, when I was pregnant with our son, and I was afraid I was going to lose him. I’d miscarried the year before, and in the first few months of my pregnancy I was quite fearful that I’d miscarry again.
One day I was having a quiet time and I came across this verse in Proverbs:
“When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,
for the Lord will be your confidence
and will keep your foot from being snared.”
Proverbs 3: 24-26
This scripture was truly a God-send and I memorised it, so that whenever I was tempted to fear during my pregnancy, I just reminded myself of these powerful words. I even meditated on it during labour, and our beautiful healthy son was born in September after a very quick, straightforward natural birth. Praise God!
I’ve since given this verse to a couple of friends that have also been going through difficult times, and they have been blessed by it as well.
I hope that this verse blesses you too.
